Mahina Mele Market grew out of Mahina Mele Farm, which Jason and Kollette Stith started in South Kona in 2005. The market, open since 2021 at their Kealakekua location, processes and sells organic macadamia nuts on site, including dehydrated 'Izzie Macs,' macadamia nut butter, and raw macadamia oil, alongside Kona Rose Coffee and Pure Mana Hawaiian skincare made from their nut oil. It's open Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., closed weekends.

Kona Joe Coffee grows what it calls the world's first trellised coffee, training plants on wires the way founder Joe Alban's family grew grapes at their California vineyard. Opening the canopy to more sun and air speeds ripening and sugar development in the cherries, a method the farm patented after founding in 1994. The Kealakekua farm has won an SCAA Blue Ribbon for its roasted coffee, and visitors can tour the fields, then roast their own beans on a mini artisanal roaster.

Hāloa ʻĀina is restoring native dryland forest on Hawaii Island, one of the rarest ecosystems on earth, after more than a century of cattle grazing pushed it toward collapse. The project has planted over a million sandalwood, or 'iliahi, trees across a preserve of thousands of acres, funding the work by harvesting oil from old and dying trees rather than clearing new ones. Volunteers help plant seedlings, and the group runs educational tours and presentations on native forestry.
