Hastings, MN

The Femling family has run Afton Apple Orchards in Hastings since 1989, growing apples, raspberries, strawberries, and pumpkins across 250 acres in the St. Croix Valley. Pick your own or buy fruit already harvested at peak ripeness. Fall brings a 15-acre corn maze, hayrides, and a petting farm, making it one of the larger u-pick operations in the south metro.

APPLE JACK ORCHARDS

Delano, MN

Apple Jack Orchards has drawn Twin Cities families to the banks of the Crow River in Delano for more than 30 years, across 90 acres of apples, u-pick raspberries, pumpkins, and squash. A 100-year-old barn houses the Olde Barn Gift Shop and bakery, selling jams, sauces, and fresh baked goods alongside wagon rides and fall entertainment.

Apple Ridge Orchard & Vineyard

Mazeppa, MN

Apple Ridge Orchard & Vineyard operated north of Rochester near Mazeppa for 42 years, offering u-pick apples, grapes, and pumpkins. The owners announced their retirement and closed the business, according to the farm's Facebook page. This is a closed operation, not an active orchard — confirm before making the drive.

Applewood Orchard

Lakeville, MN

Sixteen apple varieties grow across this 32-acre orchard south of Lakeville, including Honeycrisp, Zestar! and SweeTango, alongside a pick-your-own pumpkin patch. Apple picking, weekend hayrides, a hedge maze and a corn pit are free; a jumping pillow, sunflower field and corn maze carry an admission fee. The shop stocks apples, local honey and baked goods. Castle Rock Orchard

Farmington, MN

Castle Rock Orchard grows more than 1,350 dwarf apple trees on a trellis system across two acres, three miles south of Farmington and Lakeville on Highway 3. Pick-your-own varieties include Zestar, SweeTango, SnowSweet, Chestnut Crab, and Honeycrisp. Cenco Farms Inc dba Afton Apple Orchard

Hastings, MN

Afton Apple Orchard, run by Cenco Farms, is one of the larger pick-your-own operations in the Twin Cities metro, at 14421 90th Street South near Hastings in Washington County. It opens for u-pick apples and pumpkins in fall alongside a corn maze and hayrides, and picks strawberries and raspberries earlier in summer. The orchard's website carries current picking conditions and hours.

Center Creek Orchard's pumpkin patch

East Chain, MN

Center Creek Orchard sells apples and pick-your-own pumpkins from its Apple Barn near East Chain, south of Fairmont, with no gate fee to shop. The fall festival side charges admission for roughly twenty activities, including hayrides, zip lines, a jump pad, superslide, barrel rides, and an apple sling. School groups and private events book through the orchard directly.

Coffman Apple Orchard

Wheaton, MN

This roadside apple orchard north of Wheaton appears to have closed permanently, with its website and Facebook page gone as of 2024. While it operated, it sold Honeycrisp and Harrel Red apples along with pumpkins, butternut and buttercup squash and gourds from a stand open around the clock, September through mid-November. It sat on US Highway 75 near the South Dakota border in far western Minnesota.

Croix Farm Orchard

Hastings, MN

Croix Farm Orchard offers pick-your-own apples, a pumpkin patch, and a corn maze on St. Croix Trail south of Hastings, run by John and Kay Leadholm. Weekend wagon rides carry visitors out to the pumpkins, and a small barnyard of goats, rabbits, and chickens is open for petting and photos. A food truck sells fried treats and apple cider. Admission is free; picking bags and the corn maze cost extra.

Deardorff Orchards

Waconia, MN

Deardorff Orchards spreads across 120 acres near Lake Waconia, with 12 apple varieties on more than 3,000 pick-your-own trees and five cold-climate wine grapes on some 3,100 vines. The 125-year-old barn houses Parley Lake Winery and its tasting room, pouring wines made from the estate grapes. Apple season runs late August into early November, with hayrides and a pumpkin patch, plus a shop selling mums, local honey, jams, cider, and pumpkins.

Emma Krumbee's Orchard and Farm

Belle Plaine, MN

Emma Krumbee's ran as a Belle Plaine apple orchard, bakery, and restaurant for 43 years, drawing families for apple picking, pumpkins, a playground, corn pit, and goats. Owner Phil Morris retired and sold the land to the city, which plans a police headquarters on the site, and the orchard has closed. Its apples, pumpkins, jams, breads, and soups were long a local fall tradition off Enterprise Drive.

Fall Harvest Orchard

More than 50 fall attractions spread across this orchard west of the Twin Cities, with free admission and parking. Pick from over 20 apple varieties, pre-picked or u-pick, plus pick-your-own pumpkins starting in mid-September. The petting farm holds goats, pigs, cattle, peacocks and turkeys, and there are wagon rides, a corn maze, a trackless train, jump pillows and corn pits. Fireside Orchard

Fireside Orchard & Gardens grows 27 apple varieties across more than 50 acres east of Northfield on Highway 19, from Honeycrisp and SweeTango to Haralson, Fireside, First Kiss, and Keepsake. Robert Harvey founded the orchard in 1980; the Winfield family bought it in 2022. The retail store sells apples, cheese, and donuts made fresh daily, and the grounds include a rose garden and a picnic gazebo. It's open daily from mid-August through New Year's Eve.

Fischer's Croix Farm Orchard

Fischer's Croix Farm Orchard sits above the scenic Lower St. Croix River near Hastings, a mile north of Highway 10. It grows a long list of apples, including University of Minnesota varieties like Honeycrisp, Zestar, Sweet Sixteen, and Keepsake, sold pick-your-own and pre-picked. Flower Valley Orchard is on Orchard Road in Red Wing, in the Mississippi bluff country of Goodhue County that has long been apple ground. The listing pairs an orchard with flowers, but little is published online, so current offerings and hours are best confirmed with the farm directly.

Havlicek's Veseli Vrsek Happy Hill Orchard

Veseli, MN

The Havlicek family began planting apples in 1984 at this Veseli orchard, whose Czech name Veseli Vrsek means Happy Hill. They now grow 23 apple varieties that ripen August through October, offered pick-your-own or pre-picked on weekends without big-orchard crowds. The farm also sells basswood honey, plums, grapes, pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, garlic, and onions, and controls pests with insect traps and a weather monitor rather than heavy spraying.

Holmberg Apple Orchard

Vesta, MN

Lee and Sindie Holmberg planted this southwest Minnesota orchard in 1987, and it's grown into a fall destination near Vesta with apples, pumpkins, and squash. Visitors can walk the orchard, ride the corn boat and barrel train, tackle a corn maze, or visit the petting zoo. The farm market and country store are open daily, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through harvest season.

Holmberg Orchard

Vesta, MN

Holmberg Orchard grows apples five miles outside Vesta in southwest Minnesota, including University of Minnesota varieties like Honeycrisp, Zestar!, SweeTango, and SnowSweet. Lee and Sindie Holmberg founded it in 1987; David and Rosie Petty took over in 2020. Alongside apples, pumpkins, squash, and a gift shop, the farm runs a corn maze, corn boat, hayride, barrel train, bounce houses, and a petting zoo, and books educational tours for school groups. Homestead Orchard

Maple Plain, MN

Homestead Orchard, now operating as Moondance Orchard, is the oldest and largest apple orchard in Hennepin County, on County Road 92 north of Maple Plain. The small, family-run place opens in August for pick-your-own and pre-picked apples and presses its own cider. JQ Fruit Farm & Orchard

Princeton, MN

JQ Fruit Farm and Orchard grows pick-your-own blueberries on six acres of roughly 10,000 plants raised herbicide- and pesticide-free, plus u-pick apples with a half-peck minimum and raspberries. It sits on 33rd Street outside Princeton in Mille Lacs County, north of the Twin Cities. Berry picking runs midsummer and apples in early fall, and the farm makes its own products from the harvest.

Knapton's Raspberries, Pumpkins and Orchard

Greenfield, MN

Knapton's grows five acres of summer red and yellow raspberries, an acre of fall raspberries, pick-your-own apples, and a large pumpkin patch at the corner of Highway 55 and Lake Sarah Heights Drive in Greenfield. The farm also raises cherries, pears, sweet corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, and winter squash. It runs from late June through November, about 20 miles west of Minneapolis in western Hennepin County.

LuceLine Orchard

Watertown, MN

LuceLine Orchard on Rose Avenue in Watertown grows about 10,000 apple trees, 10 acres of pumpkins, and 4,500 grapevines. The family started in 2004 with 300 apple trees. Varieties include Honeycrisp, Zestar, SweeTango, Sweet 16, and Fireside, harvested September into mid-October. Weekends bring full service: hayrides, a corn maze, mini donuts, a petting zoo, and a beer garden pouring the orchard's own cider, wine, and beer.

Maple Hills Orchard, LLC

Frazee, MN

Honeycrisp, Zestar, SweeTango, Sweet Sixteen, and a dozen other Minnesota apple varieties grow here, between Detroit Lakes and Frazee. Gary and Jonna Goreham have run the orchard since 1999 without pesticides, leaning on pollinator habitat and biodiversity for pest control. Fall adds U-pick pumpkins and raspberries plus orchard honey. The Apple House store sells hot pie, mini-donuts, apple butter, and cider, with wagon rides and hiking trails outside.

Minnetonka Orchards, LLC

Minnetrista, MN

An apple orchard on rolling land in Minnetrista, started by Lowell and Phyllis Schaper in the mid-1970s and grown to roughly 12 acres of trees on a 40-acre property. Fall weekends bring school tours, a general store, and stands selling brats, donuts and cider pressed from the orchard's own apples for sister label Painter Creek Winery. Montgomery Orchard

Montgomery, MN

Scott Wardell planted the first apples on an overgrown pasture here in 1999, and the orchard now runs about 2,000 trees across 12 acres with varieties like Honeycrisp, SweeTango, First Kiss and Haralson. It doubles as a licensed Minnesota farm winery, pouring five hard ciders and six wines. Fall weekends add a six-acre corn maze, two miles of hiking trails, hayrides and live music. Pine Tree Apple Orchard

Dellwood, MN

Pine Tree Apple Orchard grows 25 apple varieties on Apple Orchard Road northeast of the Twin Cities, with apple season running mid-August into February. The on-site bakery draws people for pies, fresh cider, and caramel apples. Fall weekends add a corn maze, pumpkin patch, and wagon rides. Generations of White Bear Lake area families have made it a fall tradition.

Pine Tree Orchard Strawberry Field

White Bear Lake, MN

This is the strawberry side of Pine Tree Apple Orchard at 450 Apple Orchard Road near White Bear Lake. Pick-your-own strawberries run a short window from mid-June into early July, before the orchard closes to prep for apple season. The same farm reopens in mid-August with 25 apple varieties, a bakery, and fresh cider.

Pleasant Valley Orchard

Taylors Falls, MN

This orchard overlooks the St. Croix Valley just south of Taylors Falls, with pick-your-own strawberries from mid-June into mid-July and pick-your-own apples starting Labor Day weekend. Fall weekends bring hayrides, a pumpkin patch and live music, and a market barn sells produce and treats. A nature trail winds the grounds and a few farm animals round out the visit. Red Apple Orchard grows apples just north of Jackson along Highway 71 in far southern Minnesota, with u-pick and on-farm sales in the fall. Picking depends on the ripening and hours shift with the season, so it's worth a call before driving out. A straightforward apple orchard rather than a festival operation.

Red Barn Orchard

Pine River, MN

Red Barn Orchard grew apples for more than 20 years off 44th Street SW near Pine River before closing its pick-your-own operation; the owner now keeps apples and bees on a smaller scale. In its full seasons it offered 14 varieties, including Honeycrisp, Zestar, SnowSweet, and Chestnut Crab, plus fresh-pressed cider, honey, and pumpkins, all grown under integrated pest management.

Sponsel's Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard

Jordan, MN

Over 100 apple varieties grow across roughly 30,000 trees here, a Sponsel family orchard since 1971 between Jordan and Belle Plaine. Pick your own in October or buy fresh-picked at the Apple Lodge through November. The farm runs a bakery and kitchen, a petting farm, hiking trails, and wagon rides with bonfires from mid-May into December. It also hosts weddings, birthday parties, and day camps.

Sweetland Orchard

Webster, MN

Mike and Gretchen Perbix took over this Webster orchard in 2010 and grow 99 apple varieties, from Honeycrisp to Golden Russet and Northern Spy. They press fresh cider on site and run a cidery making nine hard ciders that range from dry to sweet, including a single-varietal Northern Spy and a Cherry Rhubarb Scrumpy. The orchard opens weekends in September and October with apples, baked goods, and cidery and orchard tours.

Thompson's Hillcrest Orchard

Cedar Lake, MN

Thompsons' Hillcrest Orchard, founded in 1996, grows more than 1,800 trees and 13 apple varieties, including Honeycrisp, SweeTango, and First Kiss, along 250th Street East in the Cedar Lake/Elko area of Scott County. Beyond pick-your-own and pre-picked apples, it runs a corn maze and sells pumpkins and gourds plus apple pies, jams, jellies, and caramel apples. It's a family operation south of the Twin Cities.
