AJ's Berry Farm has grown fruit in Lachine, 15 miles west of Alpena on M-32, since 1997. What began as a raspberry patch expanded into pumpkins, squash and a rotating lineup of seasonal produce. The on-farm market keeps regular hours — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 9 to 3 on Saturday, closed Sunday — rather than the pop-up schedule a lot of u-pick operations run on.
