Robert and Elaine Karr planted their first 100 apple trees north of Emporia on Highway 99 in 1992, and The Orchard has grown into a fall destination with apple picking, mini golf, and fish feeding alongside the fruit stand. The store sells apples, honey, cider, pumpkins, cheeses, and mustards, and runs seasonally from late August through December. The Karrs also sell at area farmers markets in Lyon County.
