Lydgate Farms has grown cacao on Kauai since 2002, when the fifth-generation Lydgate family planted their first trees; the 46-acre farm now holds about 3,500 cacao trees and has won the Cacao of Excellence Awards in Paris three times. The three-hour farm tour, running since 2008, includes tastings of the farm's honey, vanilla, and tropical fruit alongside the chocolate. A tasting room in downtown Kapaa opened in 2024.
