Valmere Farms has stayed in the Matthys family since 1948, when Achiel and Suzanne Matthys started it as a dairy, mint, and vegetable farm. Three generations later, the operation has shifted toward grass-fed black angus beef, pasture-raised elk, maple syrup, and honey, all raised without antibiotics. They also keep a herd of Gelbvieh cattle alongside the angus.
