Larry Peter milks about 400 Jersey cows on his family's Spring Hill Road dairy outside Petaluma and turns that milk into cheese under the Spring Hill Jersey Cheese and Petaluma Creamery labels. The dairy dates to 1987; cheese production started in 1998, using traditional methods at what's now a century-old creamery site. The retail shop on Western Avenue sells the cheese, along with butter and ice cream.
