Smith Farms has offered free admission to its pick-your-own fields since 1988, no ticket booth, no gate fee. Strawberries come first in May and June, then asparagus, blackberries, and apples through summer, with pumpkins and cut-your-own sunflowers taking over in fall. It's a working farm the family opened up because they wanted their neighbors picking food, not just buying it.
