Arthur Hazen started buying up land around Howell in the 1950s and 60s, and he and his son Dennis eventually planted more than 25 acres of blueberry bushes across it. Generations later, the farm still runs u-pick blueberries, raspberries, peaches, and plums, plus a bakeshop called Sweet Maria's that turns the harvest into pies, cookies, and homemade ice cream. The season opens in early July and runs into fall.
