Hawaiian Vanilla Company became the first commercial vanilla farm in the country when it launched in 1998, growing its crop in a Hamakua Coast rainforest near Paauilo. The family-owned operation runs farm tours alongside a restaurant, gift shop, and gallery, with a Vanilla Experience Luncheon most Wednesdays through Fridays pairing a farm walkthrough with a meal built around house-grown vanilla. The bread pudding and vanilla ice cream draw return visitors as much as the crop itself.
