Their son Phil planted the first peach trees during the Depression; his great-grandson Gene Kingsbury later spotted a mutation on one of those trees and turned it into Kingsbury Pride, a yellow freestone peach the orchard now grows exclusively. Season opens with cherries and apricots in June, then peaches, plums, and nectarines.
