June-bearing strawberries are the main crop, ready mid-June for two to three weeks, sold U-pick at $3.85 a pound or pre-picked by the quart and flat. The family farm also sells rhubarb, sweet corn, farm eggs, maple syrup, and homemade jams, and brings berries to the Maple Grove Farmers Market. Buckets and take-home flats are provided in the patch near Nowthen.

Anoka

Berry Hill Farm has picked strawberries and raspberries outside Anoka since 1991, across 100 acres. Strawberries typically ripen mid-June and raspberries around the Fourth of July, running $3.90 a pound for u-pick, with pumpkin picking and wagon rides added each fall. Hours shift with the harvest, so the farm runs a berry hotline, 763-600-4870, for daily updates.

Knapton's grows five acres of summer red and yellow raspberries, an acre of fall raspberries, pick-your-own apples, and a large pumpkin patch at the corner of Highway 55 and Lake Sarah Heights Drive in Greenfield. The farm also raises cherries, pears, sweet corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, and winter squash. It runs from late June through November, about 20 miles west of Minneapolis in western Hennepin County.

Independence

Jim's Produce sells fresh vegetables from a stand in Independence, in the western Hennepin County farm country, and is best known locally for sweet corn. Tomatoes, squash, and other summer crops fill out the stand as they ripen. On-farm pickup runs through the growing season. A roadside produce operation, not an agritourism destination.

Monticello

Brad and Bess Munsterteiger have run this Wright County farm since 2000, opening for pick-your-own strawberries in June and blueberries in July. Picking containers and carry-home flats are provided. Garlic follows in August, and cut-your-own flowers run from late June into fall. The couple keeps honeybees too, selling honey, lip balm, lotion bars, and beeswax wraps year-round. Dew Fresh Produce has grown pick-your-own and pre-picked berries near Stanchfield since 2000, with June strawberries followed by fall-bearing raspberries. Beyond the berries, the farm sells squash, pumpkins, rhubarb, seasonal sweet corn, and bulk fall carrots, and offers u-pick apples in autumn. It sits on 375th Avenue in Isanti County. Rod's Berry Farm has grown strawberries and blueberries in North Branch since Rod and Sara Elmstrand set out their first plants in 1981, offering both pick-your-own and pre-picked fruit. Bring your own containers and the farm weighs them empty first, so you pay only for berries. The Elmstrands earned a 1995 Minnesota River Friendly Farmer award for erosion control, windbreaks, and integrated pest management. The season runs mid-June into mid-July.
