Captain Family Farms works close to 20 acres in Westminster using regenerative growing practices, raising heirloom tomatoes, pasture-raised chicken, and artisan lettuces alongside eggs. The on-farm store opens May through November, and the farm runs a weekly CSA where members share in whatever the season brings, good or bad. Clagett Farm

Upper Marlboro, MD

Clagett Farm, run by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, grazes grass-fed beef and lamb on 160 of its 283 acres and grows organic vegetables for a 26-week CSA that runs May through November, with an 8-week winter option. The farm also sells raw honey and grows about 7,500 native trees and shrubs a year for watershed restoration plantings. The farm store is open Wednesdays 3-6 and Saturdays 1-4, seasonally.

Common Root Farm

Common Root Farm is a regenerative, small-scale, certified organic vegetable farm in Derwood, Maryland near Olney, started by farmer Ryan in 2018. Using minimal-till, crop rotation, and zero synthetic chemicals, the farm offers a CSA, an online grocery store, and farmers market stands while also supplying local restaurants, grocers, and food banks.

Figment Cottage Gardens

Gorman Farms

Laurel, MD

Gorman Produce Farm has run a CSA out of Laurel since 2008, now serving more than 600 families across central Maryland. Shares run June through December, with pickup Wednesday through Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the farm stand, and members get access to a pick-your-own flower garden as part of the membership. The farm also donates a portion of each week's harvest to families in need.

Groundworks Organic Farm

Pittsville, MD

Groundworks Organic Farm spent 32 seasons growing USDA-certified organic vegetables in Pittsville, with CSA pickup spots that reached as far as Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia. Morgan Farms

Morgan Farms started as a backyard garden and a few chickens and grew into a small livestock operation off Route 340/15 in Frederick. The farm raises Nigerian Dwarf goats, Welsh Harlequin ducks, KuneKune pigs, sheep, and American Blue rabbits, all free-ranging on pasture. Norman's Farm Market

Norman's Farm Market sets up daily from May through October at Jones Mill Road and East-West Highway in Chevy Chase, selling produce alongside seafood, meat, and cheese. Real Food Farm
