The Union Mills Homestead has been the Shriver family's home for six generations, seven miles north of Westminster. The property runs today as a museum with a working grist mill, a blacksmith shop, and the original house furnished in period style, alongside Civil War-era exhibits. It's open Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m., in summer, and weekends only in May, September, and October. The grounds also host weddings, school field trips, and seasonal events like corn roasts.
