Fifty-five acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus bloom each spring at The Flower Fields, a working farm a half-mile from the Carlsbad coast. The rows open to the public for roughly eight to ten weeks, from around March 1 through early May, drawing more than 200,000 visitors a season. The operation has grown ranunculus commercially here for over 60 years, selling bulbs alongside the flower show.
