Tabitha Max Blueberry Farm opens its 78 acres near Porterville for u-pick blueberries roughly mid-May through mid-June, charging $2.50 a pound to pick your own or $3.50 for berries already picked, with jumbo gold berries running $6 a pound. It's a family-run operation about 50 minutes north of Bakersfield. Call ahead to check whether the berries are ready before the drive out.
