Swansea Farmers' Market started in 2009 when a group of local volunteers decided the area needed one — it still runs the same way, Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May through October, in the Rural King parking lot. Vendors sell vegetables, fruit, baked goods, and handcrafted items. It's a volunteer-run operation, not a chamber or park district program, which shows in the community feel more than the polish.
