About Star Farm / Back of the Yards Farmers Market
Star Farm is a nonprofit urban farm that's operated in Back of the Yards since 2016, growing kale, chard, collards, tomatoes, and root vegetables on land that used to sit vacant. It runs a storefront market at 5256 S. Ashland Avenue with a deli, produce, and farm eggs, plus a CSA with weekly deliveries. Beyond selling food, the farm trains and employs neighborhood residents — the market is one piece of a larger operation.
