South Stewart Street closes to cars from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, May through October, for downtown Sonora's farmers market. It leans as much toward breakfast as produce — locally roasted coffee, pastries, and breakfast burritos draw the morning crowd as much as the fruit stands do. Dogs aren't allowed on market days, a rule posted at every entrance to the closed block.
