Roger and Dana started the Long Pumpkin Patch northeast of Great Bend on half an acre because they wanted a crop with more value than raw commodity corn or wheat — it's since grown to about four acres along the Wetlands and Wildlife Scenic Byway. Fall weekends bring a corn maze, a corn stomp pit, a gourd launcher, a culvert swing and hay rack rides, with pie pumpkins, jack-o'-lanterns and gourds for sale.
