Apple orchard on Highway 171 at Gays Mills, long known as the apple capital of Wisconsin. The ridges above the Kickapoo River valley in Crawford County hold some of the state's oldest commercial orchards, planted for their frost-draining hillsides. Fall brings apples and cider, along with the town's annual Gays Mills Apple Festival.
