Honey Pacifica has moved beehives across Southern California apiaries since 1979, when Nick Poto — known around the neighborhood as the Midnight Beekeeper — turned a science-fair hobby into a family business while working an aerospace day job. His wife Jean sold the first jars from a roadside stand; the honey now ships raw and unfiltered from a Downey warehouse to Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, and farmers markets across the region.
