About Chappelle's Vermont Potatoes

Chappelle's Potatoes is a potato farm in Williamstown, Vermont, run by Bob Chappelle and his wife for a little over 50 years. The farm now grows about 25 acres of potatoes, down from 50 to 60 acres at its peak, and sells them to Hannaford supermarkets and the Vermont Foodbank. Once a year, on a Sunday in September or early October, the farm holds a pick-your-own day: the digger turns up the rows and visitors gather the potatoes they want in their own containers. Pre-picked 50-pound bags are usually on hand that day and at other times from the farm's warehouse.
