Herbalist Patricia Kyritsi Howell founded this herbal education program in 1994 to teach the medicinal plants native to the Southern Appalachians, once called the apothecary of the nation for how much grows wild here. Classes historically ran as daylong and weekend seminars, field studies, and hands-on workshops out of the Clayton area. The school has downsized in recent years to occasional classes rather than a full course calendar.
