Black Mesa Ranch runs a Certified Humane goat dairy at nearly 6,000 feet in Arizona's White Mountains, milking about 30 registered Nubian goats across 280 off-grid acres. Kathryn and David Heininger opened it in 2003 as the state's first licensed goat dairy and now make artisan cheeses alongside handmade chocolates and toffee. The whole operation runs without a grid connection.
