About This Farm
Bartram's Garden is the oldest surviving botanic garden in North America, planted in 1728 by botanist John Bartram along the Schuylkill River in Southwest Philadelphia. The 50-acre site includes the Sankofa Community Farm, an African Diaspora-focused urban farm working on food sovereignty, plus walking trails, a boathouse, and horticultural workshops. The Welcome Center is open Thursday through Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
