The World Catfish Festival takes over downtown Belzoni, seat of Humphreys County and self-declared Catfish Capital of the World, on the first Saturday of April each year. The Delta town has run it for decades. Expect fried catfish plates, a catfish-eating contest, arts and crafts vendors, live music, and the crowning of the Catfish Queen. Admission is free, and the event draws visitors from across the Mississippi Delta.
