Hamilton

Wild Rose Emu Ranch keeps about 120 emus on Rose Lane outside Hamilton, in the Bitterroot Valley. Joe and Clover Quinn started the ranch in 1996 and refine their birds' fat into pure emu oil, which they blend into moisturizers and salves. The oil carries omega-3, -6, and -9 fatty acids and gets used on dry skin, cuts, and sore joints. The ranch also sells emu meat, leather, and feathers.

Hamilton

Davin and Julia Athman opened this U-pick pumpkin patch in the Bitterroot Valley in 2014, on Meadowlark Lane south of Hamilton. When the fall patch isn't running, the family raises grass-fed Lowline cattle and sells Montana homegrown beef. The patch opens in mid-to-late September and stays open until the pumpkins sell out. It's a small, family-run operation aimed at local families.

Hamilton

A permaculture farmstead on McCarthy Loop south of Hamilton, established in 2012 along the Bitterroot River. ABC acres runs farm-stay vacation rentals, guided and self-guided farm tours, and livestock feedings, and sells organic meat and produce through an on-site shop. The land is worked with polycultures, food forests, rotational grazing, and no-till methods. Travel & Leisure named it a top farm-stay destination in 2023.

Victor

Painted Rocks Winery makes mead, the honey wine, rather than grape wine. Four couples from the West Fork of the Bitterroot drainage started it, naming it for the reservoir near their homes upstream of Victor. The lineup runs to a light mead and a dark mead, sold through retail outlets across western Montana. It's one of the few Montana wineries built entirely around honey.

Victor

A Halloween haunted attraction set in a three-acre cornfield off Highway 93, about 4.5 miles south of Victor and half an hour south of Missoula. After dark, paths cut through 10-foot corn lead past graveyards, walking zombies, and a chainsaw-wielding character. Daytime hours turn family-friendly, with wagon rides and a mini corn maze for kids. It was named 2024 Haunt of the Year.

Stevensville

A 20-acre family farm and nursery in the Bitterroot Valley near Stevensville, with about five acres in vegetable production grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. KT-Farms sells through an on-site farm stand, a CSA program, and U-pick fields. The lineup runs from peas, beans, and tomatoes to squash, root crops, and peppers, plus strawberries, melons, and a limited apple crop, framed by Sapphire and Bitterroot mountain views.

Florence

A small Florence farm that kept gentle retired and rescue ponies and offered hand-led rides for children, both on-site and at parties, reunions, and the Sunday Carousel Farmers' Market from June through September. Owner Suzi Kimcey ran it on Yarrow Road in the Bitterroot Valley. Recent listings mark it as closed, so it may no longer be operating.
