Buchan's Blueberry Hill is a fifth-generation farm on the Old Mission Peninsula, working the same ground since 1900. U-pick runs through blueberries, peaches, and apples in season, and the farm churns its own ice cream from the fruit it grows. Alpers Berry Farm grows berries on the Leelanau Peninsula near Suttons Bay Township, part of the narrow strip of orchard and vineyard country between Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan. The peninsula's sandy, lake-cooled soil is prime berry ground, though Alpers' varieties and picking schedule aren't listed publicly.
